We already spent 2 month at the other end of the world and finally I will share our first impressions with you. It feels like yesterday, when we moved out of our flat, said goodbye to our beloved friends and family and when we took the plain to Auckland. Meanwhile we moved into our new apartement, bought a car, checked out the shopping opportunities and already met some nice people. While the first weeks felt like vacation and kind of unreal, the everyday-routine slowly starts since we started working. But that boring stuff is not part of my blogpost. Rather I woud like to share with you the first impressions we gathered so far. During the first weeks we explored the north island of new zealand – an place of diversity.
Cape Reinga
Our first stop was Cape Reinga – the nordest place of New Zealand. While driving to the north, we noticed more and more that streets become quiter, meadows greener and the ocean wilder. When we arrived at the car park of cape reinga, I didn’t expect too much to be honestly. And so we just followed the tourist without any excitement until we saw the light house at the end of the path. Surrounded by green hills on the one side and the raging ocean on the other side, this place offers stunning views. Standing there and see the awesome bays and the endless ocean was a perfect feeling of freedom, even if nature is demonstrating their full power when stormy waives beating the rocks.
Giant Sand Dunes
Our little trip continues with the „Giant Sand Dunes“. Would you expect a sahara in new zealand? Of course not! Even more we couldn’t believe our eyes when the sand mountaines become bigger and bigger the closer we came. I was so fucking happy and excited to climb up the dunes and just enjoy the warm sand under my feets, the endless sand arround me and the sun. I just felt like in a arabic farytale for a second. This place is just awesome!
Ninety Miles Beach
The trip offers even more highlights! Not far from the sand dunes, a ninety miles long beach is awaiting you. This beach is literally endless and is also used as a racetrack for cars. I am such a big fan of those endless beaches and every time I am speechless when I just can’t see an end. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side, so we just need to go there again and chase the sun 😊
Bay of Islands
We finished our little road trip with the „Bay of Island“. The streets is directly rives you along the coast and after each corner you discover a new incredible bay, which offers deserted beaches and most beautiful views of the ocean. So you definately need to plan a lot of breaks to enjoy the route at it’s fullest.
So my dears, I hope I could give you some first impressions. More details, more pictures and more experiences will follow soon.
♥ The end ♥
