Wellington is not only worth a visit due to it’s wonderful location at the ocean, the colourful street art and the nice gardens, but also because of its great food scene. You will find many restaurants, cafes and markets, which will make every foodie lover happy 🙂 Here are my favourite food spots of New Zealand’s capital.
Start your day right: Breakfast in the “Two Grey Bar and Brasserie”
After we arrived, we were strolling along the business district, when our eyes got matched by the stylish “Two Grey Bar and Brasserie” on Grey Street. The elegant interior made us enjoy the delicious waffles even more 🙂

Lunch break at the Harbourside Market
After our visit of Wellington’s Museum, we discovered the nearby harbourside food market, which is tempting with all its delicacies. Fresh juices, international dishes and ice cream – this market is made to make you happy. We decided to eat a southeast asian crepes… OMG, so crispy fresh and this delicious dressing! One of the best things I have ever tasted! Definitely a must-visit!
The market is opened each Sunday from 07:30 am to 02:00 pm.

Enjoy the Afternoon with a cool lemonade: Karaka Cafe
There is nothing better than a short break in the shadow on a hot summer day. It’s even better with a fresh cool lemonade in your hand, which you should enjoy in Karaka Cafe. This nice cafe is right next to the water with a very relaxing outdoor area offering great views over the water and the city skyline. With free sun-lotion you can enjoy the hospitality and nice atmosphere.

Dinner with a view: Foxglove Bar & Kitchen
When we looked for a restaurant in Wellington harbour area, we got catched by the stylish letters of the Foxglove restaurant. Not only the veranda was charming with the cool decoration but also the ‘living room atmosphere’ inside and the roof top area with a great view over the harbour. Is there a better place to enjoy your dinner and your cocktail? We were really lucky when we got visit from two big rays in the water, so keep your eyes open 🙂
