Horchata

Horchata
Hi lovely people,
it’s Friday again and that means for me: time for some weekend treats! But what could I do to reward myself for the busy week? Chocolate Cake is to heavy on those summer days and I am kind of too lazy for any baking. Well, then let’s do some Horchata!
One year ago I drank Horchata for the first time and get addicted to this delicious drink. Sweet, milky and this additional almond flavour… this is hard to beat. So if you never heard of it so far, you need to try it and in case you already know Horchata, find my favourite recipe below.
Mexican homemade Horchata
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice long grain
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1-2 sticks cinnamon
- 5 cups hot water
- 1/3 cup condensed milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Put together rice, almonds and cutted cinnamon sticks. Add hot water and let it rest for at least 4 hours . I recommend to let it brew over night, so that rice, almonds and cinnamon can develop its full flavour.
- Put the liquid to the blender and blend with full power for about 1-2 minutes. Once all ingredients are blended, pour the milk through a sieve.
- Bring back the filtered rice milk to the blender and add vanilla extract and condensed milk. Blend for one more minute until well mixed.
- Fill milk to some glasses and add some cinnamon pullover (because it looks to nice :)).
- Enjoy. ♥
